That is why healing requires honesty. You cannot heal what you keep hiding. You cannot surrender what you keep pretending is not there. You cannot let God restore a place in your heart you refuse to acknowledge is wounded. Darkness often survives in secrecy because secrecy keeps pain isolated, shame protected and broken places untouched.

Isaiah 40:29 says, “He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength.” That Scripture does not shame weakness. It meets weakness with power. It tells us that God is not offended by our exhaustion. He knows when we are running low, and He is able to increase strength in places where human effort has reached its limit.

At first, a wake-up call may not feel like favor. It may feel frustrating, embarrassing, inconvenient or painful. It may make you ask why God allowed something to be exposed, interrupted or delayed. But when you look deeper, you may realize that God was not trying to hurt you. He was trying to get your attention before something hurt you more.

On the eve of my 18th wedding anniversary with my wife, Tajuana, I find myself grateful. Not casually grateful, but deeply grateful. Grateful for love. Grateful for friendship. Grateful for covenant. Grateful for the journey. Grateful for the laughter, the lessons, the growth and even the challenges that taught us how to keep choosing each other.

Hebrews 11:6 says, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” That verse reminds us that believing God is not passive. It is not just religious language. It is a posture of the heart that says, “God, I trust You are real, I trust You are present, and I trust You are working even when I cannot fully explain what You are doing.”

One of the things people rarely talk about is how many mothers carried entire families while silently battling their own exhaustion, heartbreak, disappointment, and fear. Many smiled publicly while privately praying for strength just to make it through another day. They sacrificed dreams, postponed healing, ignored their own pain, and continued showing up because somebody depended on them.

When God favors us with mothers and mother figures, He gives us something powerful. He gives us nurture. He gives us covering. He gives us wisdom. He gives us correction. He gives us warmth. He gives us somebody who can see what we need before we know how to ask for it. And even when the relationship is imperfect, complicated or absent, the need for mothering still speaks to something God placed deep within the human heart.

Because early that Sunday morning, while grief still lingered and hope seemed buried behind a sealed stone, Jesus got up. Not as a symbol, not as a story passed down—but as a living, breathing, victorious Savior who fulfilled every word He spoke. The empty tomb was not just evidence of His power—it was a declaration that nothing could hold Him.

If we slow down and really think about it…some of the greatest superheroes we’ve ever known didn’t do any of that. They didn’t wear capes. They wore responsibility. They wore sacrifice. They wore strength so quietly that it almost went unnoticed. And many of them were women.

We celebrate the sudden win, the overnight success, the dramatic elevation. But Scripture—and life—tell a different story. God is far less concerned with how fast you move than with how long you can remain faithful while moving. That’s where endurance comes in.

The confetti has settled. The declarations have quieted. The pressure to reinvent yourself overnight has softened. And that’s a good thing—because real transformation doesn’t happen in the shouting. It happens in the steps. This second day of 2026 is where faith moves from intention to motion. Not leaps. Not dramatic pivots. Just the decision to keep walking with God when the excitement fades and the work begins. That’s where favor shows up.

God says plainly, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you… and when you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned” (Isaiah 43:2). Notice the language. Not if you pass through—but when. Favor does not prevent the fire; it ensures the fire does not consume you.
