Favor Fridays with Tony™: The Favor of Protection – Battles You Never Knew You Avoided

ree

We live in a world filled with constant battles—some we see and others we never even knew existed. Most of us can recall the struggles we’ve faced, the challenges we’ve overcome, and the times we’ve cried out to God for strength to get through. But have you ever stopped to thank God for the battles you never had to fight at all?

That’s the beauty of divine protection. That’s the favor of God at work.

God’s protection is not only about shielding us in the midst of storms—it’s also about preventing certain storms from even touching us. There are moments when His favor steps in quietly, reroutes us, closes doors, or delays plans—not as punishment, but as protection. There are nights you slept peacefully because unseen angels were on assignment. There are jobs you didn’t get because He knew the environment would crush your spirit. There are relationships that never worked out because He knew they weren’t part of your destiny.

That’s favor.

Today, let’s dig deep into the Favor of Protection: Battles You Never Knew You Avoided.

Seen and Unseen Protection

Psalm 91:11 – “For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways.”

God’s protection operates on two levels: the battles you can see, and the battles you’ll never know about until eternity.

There are car accidents you avoided because you were “running late.” There are friendships that fizzled out, and only later did you realize that person wasn’t for you. There are plans you had that didn’t work out, and in hindsight, you can see how God saved you from harm.

But then, there are the unseen things—the accidents that never made it into your timeline, the illnesses your body fought off without you knowing, the schemes that were plotted against you but never reached your ears. Heaven’s archives hold records of dangers you’ll never read. Why? '

Because His angels went to work on your behalf.

Favor is not just what you can testify about; it’s also what you’ll never even know until glory.

Protection in Delays and Detours

Proverbs 19:21 – “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”

One of the hardest things for us to accept is delay. We get frustrated when life doesn’t move on our schedule. We question God when things don’t happen as quickly as we’d like. Yet delays are often divine protection in disguise.

Think about Joseph. Betrayed, sold into slavery, falsely accused, and forgotten in prison—every delay looked like disaster. Yet every detour was protection, positioning him for promotion. When famine came, Joseph’s painful delays became the very means of saving nations.

Your delays might feel like punishment, but they are often God’s hand protecting you from dangers you couldn’t see. That “no” was actually His “not yet.” That missed opportunity was actually His covering.

I once heard someone say, “Rejection is God’s protection.” And it’s true. Every closed door is not a curse; sometimes it’s a shield.

The Armor of God at Work

Ephesians 6:11 – “Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”

Favor doesn’t mean we’ll never be attacked, but it does mean we’ll be protected when we are. God has given us spiritual armor—truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God. This armor is more than symbolic; it is supernatural equipment that guards us from the enemy’s schemes.

When anxiety tries to invade your mind, the helmet of salvation covers you. When lies try to pierce your heart, the breastplate of righteousness shields you. When discouragement tries to stop your steps, the shoes of peace keep you moving forward.

Sometimes the greatest protection is not from what’s happening around you, but from what could happen within you. Favor guards your spirit so that bitterness doesn’t take root, so that fear doesn’t paralyze you, and so that hopelessness doesn’t overwhelm you.

The Battle Belongs to the Lord

2 Chronicles 20:15 – “Do not be afraid or discouraged… For the battle is not yours, but God’s.”

There are times when God’s protection means you never have to step onto the battlefield. He handles it Himself.

King Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah once faced an impossible situation: three nations had come against them. Instead of panicking, they prayed. And God answered with this powerful word: “The battle is not yours, but God’s.”

When they showed up to the battlefield, the enemy armies had already turned on each other. Judah never had to raise a sword. They simply praised—and God fought.

That’s favor. Sometimes God doesn’t just help you fight; He removes the fight altogether. The battle was canceled before it reached you.

Protection for the Next Generation

Isaiah 54:17 – “No weapon formed against you shall prosper…”

God’s protective favor doesn’t just cover you—it extends to your family, your children, and even generations you haven’t seen yet.

Think of how many generational curses stopped with you. How many cycles were broken because God’s hand was over your life. That’s favor.

Parents and grandparents often pray prayers of protection that echo through generations. Your grandmother’s prayers may be the reason you’re alive today. Your prayers right now may be the reason your children will be safe tomorrow.

Favor is generational. The battles you never knew you avoided may have been victories your ancestors prayed into existence.

  2. How have you seen God protect not only you but also your family?

  3. Are there areas in your life right now where you need to trust God’s protective favor more deeply?

  4. Who in your life do you need to cover in prayer so that favor extends to them as well?

✨ Closing Exhortation

The favor of God’s protection isn’t always loud or obvious. Sometimes it’s quiet. Sometimes it’s hidden. Sometimes it looks like disappointment at first glance. But when you realize that protection is part of His favor, you begin to walk in gratitude for both the battles you fought and the battles you never had to face.

Today, give God thanks not just for what you’ve come through, but for what you never had to go through.

Because His favor is not just in the victory—it’s in the protection.
