Reap What You Sow Mondays with Tony™: The Seeds You Sow in Crisis: Why What You Plant in Hard Seasons Becomes Some of Your Strongest Harvests

ree

🌾 Introduction: Crisis Doesn’t Cancel Your Calling

When life feels uncertain, the first instinct is often to pause, retreat, or hold back. In times of crisis — financial strain, grief, illness, betrayal, or transition — sowing can feel foolish. “Why plant when the soil looks dry? Why give when I have little? Why pray when the heavens seem silent?”

But the Kingdom principle is this: seeds sown in crisis are often the ones that produce the strongest, most supernatural harvests.

“Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy. Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them.” – Psalm 126:5–6 (NIV)

The tears you shed in your hardest seasons water the seeds you plant in faith. Crisis is not a signal to stop sowing — it is the very soil where breakthrough takes root.

🌿Isaac’s Crisis Crop

In Genesis 26, famine struck the land. Logic said to withhold, but Isaac sowed anyway:

“Isaac planted crops in that land and the same year reaped a hundredfold, because the Lord blessed him.” – Genesis 26:12 (NIV)

Isaac’s act of faith was not about favorable conditions — it was about trusting God. While others hoarded, Isaac planted. While others expected lack, he believed in God’s abundance. And his harvest wasn’t ordinary — it was a hundredfold increase in a famine year.

🌾 Lesson: Crisis doesn’t stop God’s multiplication. In fact, it positions Him to show Himself strong.

🗣️ Declaration: I will plant in famine and trust God for a hundredfold harvest.

🌾 Quote: “When the ground looks dry, that’s when Heaven’s rain is most powerful.”

🌿The Tears That Water Your Seed

Psalm 126:5–6 teaches us that tears are not wasted. Every prayer cried in desperation, every seed planted in pain, every act of faith performed with trembling hands becomes water to your seed.

  • Hannah sowed prayers through tears and gave birth to Samuel, one of Israel’s greatest prophets.

  • David cried out in caves and wilderness seasons, yet his tears watered seeds of worship that crowned him king.

  • Jesus sowed His very life in agony, and through His death, the harvest of salvation came to all who believe.

🌾 Lesson: Don’t despise your tears. They are watering seeds of breakthrough.

🗣️ Declaration: My tears are not wasted. They are watering the harvest God has promised.

🌾 Quote: “Your pain is not the end — it is the irrigation system for your harvest.”

🌿Crisis Produces Character Fruit

Crisis has a way of stripping away comfort and exposing what’s inside us. But it also cultivates perseverance, resilience, and faith.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” – Romans 8:28 (NIV)

The harvest you reap from crisis isn’t always financial. Sometimes the greatest fruit is inner strength, patience, wisdom, or renewed faith that can’t be shaken.

🌾 Example: Joseph sowed faithfulness in the pit, the prison, and Potiphar’s house. His harvest wasn’t just the throne — it was the character required to sustain the throne.

🗣️ Declaration: My crisis is shaping my character, and my character is preparing me for my harvest.

🌿Planting in Crisis Requires Courage

It takes boldness to sow when you feel like hoarding. It takes faith to give when you’re not sure how tomorrow’s needs will be met. But God honors courageous sowing.

“Cast your bread upon the waters, for after many days you will find it again.” – Ecclesiastes 11:1 (NIV)

🌾 Application: Your “seed” in crisis may not always be money. It could be:

  • Choosing to forgive instead of holding a grudge.

  • Continuing to pray when you don’t see results.

  • Encouraging others when you feel discouraged yourself.

  • Serving faithfully when you’d rather retreat.

🗣️ Declaration: My courage to sow in hard times is my faith that God controls the harvest.

🌿The Testimony of Crisis Seeds

When you sow in hard times, your harvest becomes a testimony to others. People will look at your life and know it wasn’t your strength, but God’s.

  • The widow of Zarephath gave Elijah her last meal and reaped a jar of flour that never ran dry (1 Kings 17:7–16).

  • Paul and Silas sowed worship at midnight in prison, and their praise broke chains.

  • Jesus sowed His life in death and reaped eternal victory for all.

🌾 Lesson: Seeds sown in crisis bring glory to God because they reveal His supernatural hand.

🗣️ Declaration: My harvest will testify of God’s faithfulness in my hardest seasons.

🌾 Quote: “Crisis seeds produce harvests that no one can deny came from God.”

🌿Practical Keys for Sowing in Crisis

  1. Stay Planted in Faith – Don’t uproot yourself when things get hard.

  2. Sow Consistently – Even a small seed planted faithfully carries weight in God’s eyes.

  3. Guard Your Heart – Refuse fear and doubt that choke the seed.

  4. Water with Prayer and Worship – Crisis sowing must be accompanied by faith-filled prayer.

  5. Expect the Supernatural – Believe for a harvest bigger than your natural effort.

🙏🏾 Prayer for Crisis Sowing

Teach me to sow faithfully even in tears, trusting that You are the Lord of the harvest. Let my courage to plant in famine bring glory to Your name and testimony to others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Crisis is not the time to stop sowing — it is the most important time to sow. What you plant in your hardest seasons often becomes your strongest harvest, not because of your effort, but because of God’s supernatural hand on your seed.

So, keep sowing. Keep praying. Keep giving. Keep forgiving. Your tears are watering your breakthrough. Your courage to plant in famine is setting you up for hundredfold favor. And when the harvest comes, it will shout one truth louder than all others: God was with you in the crisis, and He multiplied your seed for His glory.
