Before we dive into today's Reed's Reads of Wisdom Wednesdays™ and the depths of Juanita’s spiritual transformation, let’s pause and consider something universal: we’ve all had moments where people we trusted seemed to vanish. Whether physically, emotionally, or spiritually, their absence left a hole—and often, we’re left wondering what to do with that silence. In Chapter 13 of Book I of S.O.L.A.D.™, we witness Juanita go through just that. And what emerges isn’t despair—it’s strength. This week’s post walks us through how God uses isolation to build identity, shape resilience, and amplify the gifts already placed within us.
1. Where Did Everybody Go?
In Chapter 13 of Book I of S.O.L.A.D.™, “Lives Apart,” we find Juanita staring into her bathroom mirror, filled with frustration, loneliness, and a dash of grief. It’s been five weeks since Kevin and Jeff disappeared, and she’s heard nothing from either of them.
She reminds herself, “You said you would look for five weeks and today is the last day. If they don’t want to be found, just stop looking.” But behind those words is a heaviness we can all relate to: the kind that comes when people we depended on go silent, vanish, or drift away.
Her hair’s done. Her powers are growing. But her heart aches. Sound familiar?
Her hair’s done: She’s still showing up. On the outside, she looks composed.
Her powers are growing: Even though it’s painful, the process is working.
Her heart aches: We must acknowledge grief doesn’t cancel growth. They can co-exist.
Sometimes we get so used to leaning on others that we forget God may be setting us up to lean on Him in a deeper way.
2. Lonely, But Not Weak
Even in their absence, Juanita doesn’t fall apart. Instead, she floats. Literally. She floats a comb from the hallway. She floats through the air into the study. She trains, transforms, and throws herself into her mission. When Wiseman J checks on her, she calmly shares:
“Yesterday, I lifted four boulders at the same time from a distance with telekinesis to distract a pack of demon dogs while I transformed into Angeline.”
She doesn’t say it to brag. She says it because it’s truth. The season of absence birthed a new level of anointing.
Floating objects: She is mastering a spiritual gift in solitude.
Boulders and demon dogs: She’s facing dark forces and succeeding without backup.
Transforming into Angeline™: Her alter ego isn't a fantasy—it’s her calling in full bloom.
This is a reminder that strength isn't loud. Strength is consistency when no one's clapping. Strength is obedience when no one's looking.
3. Sometimes the Wilderness Is the Workshop
We often want our growth to come through companionship. But sometimes, it’s isolation that unlocks transformation.
Moses had to leave Egypt for the desert: He became a deliverer in the dry place.
David was anointed, then exiled: He learned to worship in caves before he led from thrones.
Elijah fled to a cave: There, he heard the still small voice of God.
Jesus spent 40 days alone: And returned in the power of the Spirit.
Paul was blinded and still: Transformation before mission.
Juanita’s training without Kevin or Jeff didn’t break her. It built her.
She says, “When you don’t have any back-up, you have to learn to defend yourself any way possible pretty fast.”
God sometimes removes the crutches to show you that you’re not crippled. You’re called.
4. God Is Still With You—Even When Others Aren’t
Juanita opens up to Wiseman J, saying:
“I know God is with me and I can feel His presence. It’s just, sometimes...most times...I miss having a physical presence that I can see and touch.”
That line is both vulnerable and victorious.
She feels God’s presence: Her spirit is sensitive, not hardened.
She misses human touch: She is honest about her humanity.
She keeps training anyway: Her faith doesn’t crumble under her feelings.
She’s not doubting God. She’s just being honest about the ache. And sometimes, that’s what strength looks like—holding your ground even while admitting your heart still aches.
Supporting Scriptures:
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” — Psalm 46:1
“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me.” — Psalm 23:4
God’s response? Through the guidance of J and the flashing red dot on the monitor (a hint that Kevin and Jeff might still be alive), God whispers hope through unexpected means.
5. You’re Stronger Than You Think
Juanita thought she needed Kevin and Jeff to move forward. And yes, they mattered deeply. But in their absence, she discovered:
Her powers weren’t dependent on their presence: The gift was in her all along.
Her protection wasn’t tied to their proximity: God was still shielding her.
Her growth wasn’t blocked by grief: Her pain became fertilizer for power.
God used the silence to strengthen her.
And He’ll do the same for you.
You may not hear from them. You may not understand the separation. But your purpose didn’t leave with them.
You are still called. Still gifted. Still powerful.
Quote to Remember:“Sometimes God separates you so He can strengthen you privately before He uses you publicly.”
6. Biblical Parallels: Separated to Be Strengthened
Joseph was betrayed and left for dead. But his greatest development happened in prison, not the palace. His time in isolation became preparation for divine elevation.
Ruth lost her husband and was left with Naomi, yet her faithfulness positioned her for redemption. Her loyalty led her to Boaz and to a place in Jesus’ lineage.
Hagar ran away into the wilderness and met El Roi—the God who sees. Her solitude was filled with divine encounter, not despair.
Takeaway: If you’ve been left in a place of uncertainty, God may be calling you into intimacy. Power grows in solitude.
7. Declarations for the Season of Solitude
I am not alone—God is always with me.
I am being strengthened even when I feel abandoned.
The silence around me cannot silence the power within me.
I grow even in grief. I soar even when grounded.
I don’t need everyone—I just need the One who called me.
I trust the quiet because I trust the One who speaks in it.
8. Reflection Questions
Have I ever mistaken someone’s absence for God’s abandonment?
What strengths have I discovered in my own “five-week silence” seasons?
Am I allowing my gift to grow, or am I waiting on someone else to validate it?
Can I trust that God has a purpose even in the pauses?
What would it look like for me to embrace this season instead of resisting it?
9. Call to Action
This week, look at the areas where you feel alone—and ask: “Lord, what are You strengthening in me?”
Don’t chase people who’ve gone quiet. Lean into the power God is awakening. You are stronger than you think. And God hasn’t forgotten how to speak.
Write a letter to your future self explaining what God showed you in this season. Remind yourself that today’s silence is tomorrow’s strength.
10. Closing Prayer
God, thank You for being with me even in the silence. Thank You for helping me grow in the places I once felt abandoned. I trust that You’re using this season to prepare me, not punish me. Show me how strong I really am—and remind me that Your presence never leaves. Amen.
11. Benediction & Blessing
May you walk confidently even when the hallway is dark.May you trust that God’s silence is not His absence.May you discover that you are stronger than you ever imagined—and that the strength you carry is a reflection of the God who never let go.
