Reed’s Reads of Wisdom Wednesdays™: Your Gift Will Make Room, But Will You Answer the Call?

ree

For five long weeks, Juanita Grayson (Angeline™) hasn't seen or heard from Kevin Edwards (Angelo™) or Jeff: Ward of Law™. She's heartbroken, frustrated, and afraid. But in that same window of absence, something extraordinary happens—Juanita grows. Her powers strengthen. Her confidence blooms. Her connection to her divine calling deepens. She may have started as a young woman relying on her team, but now she’s becoming something more—a true Soldier of Light of Darkness™.

And Kevin?

He’s in hiding. Ashamed. Guilt-ridden. Gifted. Called. Needed.

But refusing.

This is the tension at the heart of Chapter 13 of Book I of S.O.L.A.D.™: Soldiers of Light Against Darkness™.

And it’s the tension at the heart of so many of our own stories.

The Gift Doesn't Disappear Because You Disappear

Kevin, now going by his middle name "Darryl," believes he has disqualified himself from his calling. He nearly destroyed the Village of Memphis, hurt those he loved, and let shame convince him that stepping away was the most responsible thing to do.

But here's the thing: hiding doesn’t cancel purpose. It only postpones its power.

The Word says our gifts will make room for us. That means there will always be opportunities, divine assignments, and kingdom doors waiting for your arrival. But here’s the kicker: gifts don’t make us answer. They make room, yes—but we must still walk through the door.

Kevin's powers didn’t stop existing just because he stopped believing in them. His gift didn’t vanish. It remained... stirring... waiting... pressing.

Can you relate?

Have you ever disqualified yourself from a God-given calling because of a failure, a fear, or a fall?

Juanita Grew Without Permission

While Kevin ran, Juanita rose. Her abilities as Angeline increased tenfold. Her control over telekinesis became second nature. She wasn't waiting for permission to grow. She wasn’t waiting to be rescued.

This is such a powerful moment.

Because even in absence, God was still present. And Juanita didn’t let abandonment become an excuse for abandonment of duty. Instead, she leaned into her training, her support from Wiseman J, and her ever-deepening faith.

Too often we believe our growth is tied to someone else's return. But Juanita teaches us this: sometimes growth comes when the people you counted on stop showing up.

God will still show up. Will you?

The Weight of a Prophetic Assignment

Let’s be real. The prophecy of S.O.L.A.D.™ is not just spiritual poetry. It’s warfare. It’s world-shaking. It’s heavy.

And that kind of calling scares most of us.

Who wouldn’t run? Who wouldn’t feel unworthy?

Kevin carries guilt. Juanita carries longing. Both carry purpose.

The question is: Will they (and we) rise under the weight of it... or be crushed by it?

We learn in this chapter that fear doesn’t stop the war from knocking on your door. The fight finds you anyway. Kevin wanted to lay low. But eventually, the Village of Detroit was attacked. And in the chaos, Kevin’s gifts surged again. His instincts kicked in. Because the war doesn’t care whether you’re ready.

If you’re called, it will find you.

Stop Trying to Qualify What God Has Already Approved

Wisewoman D said it best: "There is nowhere you could ever go to get away from your God-given purpose and destiny."

You can change your name. You can move to another city. You can grow a beard and get a new job.

But your calling has spiritual GPS.

The truth is this: you may not feel worthy of your gift, but God still sees you as chosen. You may feel broken, but God still calls you builder. You may feel ashamed, but God still calls you anointed.

And when you stop arguing with God about who you used to be, you'll start walking into who you really are.

Your Gift Isn’t Just About You

One of the most profound themes in this chapter is how the gifts of each character aren’t just personal. They’re communal.

  • Juanita’s growth means children are rescued.

  • Kevin’s bravery saves an entire village.

  • Angeline’s rising authority confronts and destroys demonic rulers.

Their gifts matter. Because lives depend on them.

You don’t get to play small when your calling is big.

The Gift Will Make Room… but You Still Have to Walk In

Opportunities. Platforms. Assignments. Doors.

Your gift will make room for you—but walking in is still your decision. Kevin had to stop resisting and remember who he was. Juanita had to keep going even when she felt alone. And we must remember: delay doesn’t mean denial. God will circle the block as many times as it takes… but eventually, you have to come outside.

God is patient. But the world is waiting.

Will you answer the call?

Reflection Questions:

  1. Have you ever felt like Kevin—unworthy or unwilling to accept your calling?

  2. What might God be training in you while others are absent?

  3. Are there gifts in your life you’ve been sitting on out of fear, shame, or doubt?

  4. What would it look like to stop hiding and start walking in your purpose today?

Declaration:

I am chosen. I am gifted. I am needed. My past does not disqualify my future. My gift will make room for me, and I will walk through every door God opens. I will not run. I will not hide. I will answer the call.

Closing Word:

This chapter was a turning point for both Juanita and Kevin. It reminded us that the battle never waits for us to feel ready. But it also reminded us that God always prepares us while we wait.

Stop trying to be perfect. Stop disqualifying yourself. Your gift is calling. Your purpose is present. And heaven is waiting for your yes.
