Tony’s Soldiers of Light Sundays: God’s Perfect Timing — Trusting When the Wait is Long

ree

In a world that values instant gratification—fast food, same-day delivery, instant messaging—we often forget that some of the most important things in life cannot be rushed. God’s plans, especially, unfold in His perfect time, often testing our patience and faith. Yet it’s in these seasons of waiting that our spiritual muscles are strengthened, our character refined, and our trust in Him deepened. Waiting on God’s timing isn’t always easy, but it’s always worth it.

Have you ever found yourself in a season of waiting, feeling like time itself had stopped? Perhaps you’ve been waiting for healing that seems delayed, for a job opportunity that never comes, for reconciliation in a broken family, or for an answer to a prayer that’s been on your heart for years. In those moments, it can feel like everyone else’s prayers are being answered while yours remains unanswered, like you’re standing in line while others are called ahead of you. But God’s Word reminds us: “A delay is not a denial.” Every waiting season has a purpose in His plan.

Biblical Examples of Waiting on God

Throughout Scripture, we see that God often uses seasons of waiting to accomplish His greatest works:

Abraham and Sarah longed for a child, and even when it seemed biologically impossible, God’s promise came true in the fullness of time with the birth of Isaac. Joseph, betrayed by his own brothers and sold into slavery, waited years through injustice and imprisonment before being elevated to second-in-command of Egypt to save a nation. Hannah wept and prayed for a son, and in due time, Samuel was born—a prophet who would anoint kings. David was anointed to be king as a boy but spent years fleeing from Saul’s threats before finally ascending the throne.

And in the New Testament, Mary and Martha waited four days for Jesus to come to Lazarus’ tomb, thinking He was too late. Yet Jesus’ “delay” was precisely timed to reveal His glory and power.

Each of these stories teaches us that God’s timing is never off. A delay does not mean denial; it simply means preparation—both for us and for what He has planned. A waiting season is never wasted.

Why God’s Timing Is Worth Trusting

But why does God make us wait? Often, it’s because He’s preparing us for the promise or preparing the promise for us. Just as a seed must be buried and broken before it sprouts into new life, sometimes God allows us to walk through seasons of hiddenness so that we can grow deeper roots of faith. Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV) says it best: “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” This promise reminds us that waiting is not passive; it is an active trust in God’s perfect wisdom and provision.

Habakkuk 2:3 (NKJV) offers similar encouragement: “For the vision is yet for an appointed time… though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.” God is never late, never early—He’s always right on time. And in the waiting, He is working: on us, in us, and through us. His ways are higher than ours, and His timing is perfect even when we cannot see it.

Modern-Day Heroes Who Waited Well

History is filled with men and women who trusted God’s perfect timing despite earthly delays. Harriet Tubman trusted God as she led countless enslaved people to freedom on the Underground Railroad, often waiting in the shadows for the right moment to move. Rosa Parks, though seated on a bus, stood tall in faith, knowing change might not come overnight. Martin Luther King Jr. declared, “I have a dream,” even as he faced years of opposition and never lived to see its fulfillment. Yet his faith lit the path for generations to come.

In our own communities, we witness teachers praying and waiting for breakthroughs in their classrooms, parents interceding for their children’s futures, and leaders holding fast to God’s promises even when change seems slow. Their faith reminds us that no matter the delay, God’s purpose will prevail.

In S.O.L.A.D.™: Soldiers of Light Against Darkness™

The S.O.L.A.D.™ universe reflects this truth as well. Kevin (Angelo) doesn’t rush headlong into battles; he waits for divine timing, trusting that each mission has its appointed hour. Juanita (Angeline) understands that spiritual victories often begin with seasons of intercession, patience, and preparation. Jesheena’s journey is marked by trusting God’s unfolding plan, even when it seems uncertain. Melanie embodies the quiet strength that comes from waiting on the Lord rather than forcing her own solutions. Their stories, woven into the fabric of S.O.L.A.D.™, remind us that God’s timing is always perfect—even in the face of evil’s advance.

Declarations for Seasons of Waiting

Declare with me today:

  • I declare that my waiting season is not wasted—it’s preparation for what God is about to do in my life.

  • I declare that my faith will remain steadfast, even when the wait feels long.

  • I declare that God’s perfect timing will be revealed, and His promise will not fail.

  • I declare that I trust the One who knows the end from the beginning and holds my future in His hands.

Final Encouragement

If you’re in a season of waiting today, hold on to hope. Waiting is not punishment—it’s an invitation to trust the One who loves you more than you can imagine. He sees what you can’t. He’s working in ways you may not understand. And when the fullness of time comes, His promise will come to pass.

So keep believing. Keep praying. Keep trusting. Because even when the wait is long, God’s timing is still perfect.
