On this 13th day of International Black Women’s History Month, we honor a divine truth: when a Black woman walks in the boldness of Christ, she becomes unstoppable.
This message is inspired by the words of the late Shirley Chisholm, the first Black woman elected to the U.S. Congress: “Unbought and unbossed.” She stood with unapologetic purpose in a world that tried to silence her. And today, in the Kingdom of God, we celebrate the countless Black women who stand unashamed of the Gospel, unbothered by critics, and unmoved by fear.
God is raising up daughters who don’t wait for permission to walk in purpose. These women are not tethered to titles or public approval—they are anchored in the anointing. And because they are confident in who they are in Christ, they speak boldly, move prophetically, and live righteously, even when the world misunderstands them.
Biblical Boldness: The Women Who Said Yes Anyway
Esther: Bold in the Face of Death
Esther risked her life to save her people. She didn’t wait for external validation—she moved when God positioned her. Her declaration still echoes: “If I perish, I perish.”
Deborah: Bold in Leadership
Deborah judged a nation, prophesied victory, and led men into battle. Her boldness wasn’t ego—it was obedience. She didn’t shrink back because of societal norms; she stood tall because of spiritual assignment.
Mary Magdalene: Bold in Witness
While others scattered, Mary stayed. She was the first to witness the resurrection and proclaim it. Her devotion and clarity of vision made her a trusted messenger of the most important news in history.
Modern-Day Warriors: Unbought and Unapologetic
Shirley Chisholm
She said, “If they don't give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair.” Her political fire was matched by moral conviction. She wasn't just a public servant—she was a prophetic voice.
Fannie Lou Hamer
Uneducated in the world’s eyes, but rich in spiritual and moral authority, she declared: “I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired.” She used her voice to expose injustice and elevate truth.
Cicely Tyson
Refusing roles that dishonored her dignity, Cicely chose to portray women of strength, faith, and grace. She remained rooted in purpose, never compromising her values for applause.
These women didn’t ask for permission to be powerful. They simply walked in it.
What Boldness in Christ Looks Like
Speaking truth in love, even when it’s unpopular
Pursuing callings without fear of failure
Refusing to dim your light to comfort others
Standing firm in Scripture, even when the culture shifts
Worshiping loudly, praying boldly, and living faithfully
2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV) declares: “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
Romans 1:16 (NKJV) reminds us: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes...”
In S.O.L.A.D.™: Soldiers of Light Against Darkness™
The S.O.L.A.D.™ series honors this very kind of boldness. Whether it’s Kandace Edwards praying with fire or Isabella Edwards walking in wisdom, these women of faith do not flinch in the face of darkness. They carry the light unapologetically.
Their boldness is not bravado—it’s spiritual authority wrapped in humility. It is the quiet strength that disrupts strongholds and the visible confidence that inspires the next generation.
Conclusion: Walk Boldly, Live Unashamed
If you are a Black woman walking in your purpose today—know this:
You are unbought because your value is not determined by man. You are unbossed because your steps are ordered by the Lord. You are unashamed because you belong to Christ.
So speak, build, lead, and shine. Be loud with your love. Be firm with your faith. Be bold with your obedience.
Because the Kingdom is better because you said yes.
