Tony’s Soldiers of Light Sundays: Women Who Worship – How Praise and Worship Break Chains

Today marks the 23rd day of Women’s History Month, and what better way to celebrate than by honoring the powerful women of faith who understand that praise and worship are not just expressions but weapons of spiritual warfare. Throughout history, women who worship have broken chains, shifted atmospheres, and brought about breakthroughs through their connection to God.

Women who worship are pillars in their homes, churches, and communities. Their worship has healed hearts, lifted burdens, and invited the miraculous into impossible situations. They demonstrate that when words fail, worship speaks directly to the heart of God.

Biblical Women Who Worshiped and Broke Chains

Miriam: Leading Worship After Victory

After God parted the Red Sea and delivered Israel from Pharaoh's army, Miriam, the sister of Moses, led the women in song, dance, and tambourine (Exodus 15:20-21). Her worship was a public declaration of God’s power and faithfulness. Miriam reminds us that worship is our response to God’s deliverance, and she stands as one of the first recorded female worship leaders, showing how women set the tone for a generation’s praise.

Hannah: Worshiping Through Tears

Before she conceived Samuel, Hannah wept bitterly before the Lord, pouring out her heart in worship and prayer (1 Samuel 1:10-20). She teaches us that worship is not always pretty—sometimes it is birthed through pain. Her prayers unlocked a generational blessing, proving that persistent worship can change destinies.

Mary of Bethany: Worship at the Feet of Jesus

Mary poured expensive perfume on Jesus' feet and wiped them with her hair (John 12:3). Despite criticism, she gave her best in worship. Mary teaches us that true worship is sacrificial, intimate, and deeply personal. She recognized Jesus’ worth before many others did, showing that worship is about giving our best regardless of the cost.

The Woman with the Alabaster Box

With boldness, a woman known as a sinner broke her alabaster box and anointed Jesus (Luke 7:37-38). Her act of worship was met with criticism but honored by Christ. Worship breaks through judgment, shame, and past labels. She proved that worship is an act of courage, faith, and deep gratitude.

Modern Women Who Worship and Inspire

Yolanda Adams: A Voice of Encouragement

Yolanda’s songs like "Be Blessed" and "The Battle Is the Lord's" remind us that worship is also encouragement and healing. Her voice lifts burdens and testifies that God still fights for His people.

Tasha Cobbs Leonard: Breaking Chains Through Worship

Her song "Break Every Chain" became a global anthem because it proclaims that worship sets captives free. Tasha is a modern example of how worship is warfare and a powerful tool to loose what is bound in the spirit realm.

Tamela Mann: Worship That Heals

Songs like "Take Me to the King" and "God Provides" demonstrate raw, vulnerable worship that meets people in their brokenness. Tamela’s ministry proves that worship is a place of healing, renewal, and divine encounter.

Le’Andria Johnson: Worship Through the Storm

Her journey and powerful voice prove that worship doesn’t require perfection but a heart ready to surrender. Le’Andria shows that even in our weakest moments, worship is our way back to God’s grace.

Faith and Worship in S.O.L.A.D.™

In S.O.L.A.D.™: Soldiers of Light Against Darkness™, worship is a constant reminder of the team's connection to God. The prayers and worship of Kevin's mother and grandmother, Kandace and Isabella Edwards, stand as shining examples of women whose faith and devotion create a legacy of praise and spiritual strength.

Their quiet strength, their hymns, and their whispered prayers cover their family and community, becoming a generational shield against darkness. Kandace and Isabella remind readers that worship is a lifestyle, not a performance. It is in those unseen moments that their faith is most powerfully displayed, leaving a spiritual inheritance that empowers the next generation.
