On the 16th day of International Black Women’s History Month, we don’t just honor strength, resilience, or success—we confront what threatens to destroy it.
In Chapter 13 of S.O.L.A.D.™ Book I: “Doorways to Hell,” readers witness the terrifying result of a society desensitized to evil. What began as apathy becomes access. And what once looked like freedom becomes bondage. The door was open. The demons didn’t force entry—they walked right in.
And the same thing happens in our lives.
Today’s reflection is for every Black woman who has been assigned the sacred task of watching the gate—guarding her home, her children, her health, her mind, her anointing. She is both shield and sword.
And too often, she must war in silence.
Chapter 13 Recap: What Happens When We Leave the Door Unlocked
In this pivotal chapter, a tragic spiritual breakdown unfolds. Characters within the story unknowingly (and some knowingly) open pathways for demonic forces to wreak havoc. What begins as cultural disobedience escalates into supernatural consequence.
The S.O.L.A.D.™ team must step into communities and confront environments where the enemy has been invited in—through rebellion, occultism, compromise, abuse, addiction, violence, and idolatry.
This isn’t fiction. It’s familiar.
In our world, “doorways to hell” may look like:
Generational trauma never addressed
Abuse never spoken of
Bitterness passed down like an heirloom
Music, media, and movements that glamorize darkness
Witchcraft and occult practices disguised as empowerment
When Kevin and Juanita confront these forces, they don’t just come with swords—they come with discernment. The battle isn’t just external. It’s internal. And spiritual.
Spiritual Gatekeeping: The Role of Black Women as Watchwomen
Throughout history, Black women have often been the spiritual gatekeepers of their families and communities.
The praying grandmothers who covered entire households
The mothers who laid hands on children before school
The aunts who fasted when others didn’t understand why
The daughters who saw too much and chose not to repeat it
📖 Isaiah 62:6 (NKJV) — “I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; They shall never hold their peace day or night...”
In a world where danger isn’t always visible, spiritual gatekeepers are essential.
But here’s the truth:
You can’t guard the gate if you’re exhausted, distracted, or deceived.
Chapter 13 reminds us that demons don’t knock—they discern where they’re welcome.
And in too many spaces, they’ve been given unspoken permission.
But God has not left Black women defenseless. He has equipped them with supernatural strength, wisdom, and discernment to stand in spiritual authority.
God gives Black women the power to:
Break generational curses
Rebuke the enemy from their homes
Intercede in prayer with power and results
Speak life into their families and futures
Accomplish dreams while shielding the next generation from harm
📖 Isaiah 40:29 (NKJV) — “He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength.”
What Are Doorways to Hell in the Lives of Black Women Today?
Unhealed Trauma
When trauma is suppressed, it festers. It becomes a breeding ground for insecurity, rage, addiction, and spiritual confusion.
Generational Curses
Cycles of poverty, broken relationships, early death, and silence that pass from one generation to the next—until someone rises to break them.
The Glamourization of Darkness
Social media trends that celebrate crystals, spells, or divination as “harmless.”
TV and music content that glorifies toxicity as strength or pain as entertainment.
Sexual Sin and Abuse
The doors that open when bodies are misused or mistreated.
The soul ties that form and the demons they invite.
Compromised Worship
Altars divided between God and self.
Prayer mixed with superstition.
Church attendance without spiritual intimacy.
Black women are not immune to these doorways. In fact, they are often the ones called to close them. And God promises to strengthen those He calls.
📖 Philippians 4:13 (NKJV) — “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Historical Echoes: When the Gate Fell and Women Stood
When slavery ripped apart families, Black women held the line.
When Jim Crow closed every legal door, Black women opened supernatural ones.
When public health systems, school boards, courtrooms, and culture neglected their needs, Black women became community intercessors.
They’ve always stood at the door—even when the house was on fire.
But the fire gets in when no one’s praying.
And in S.O.L.A.D.™, we see what happens when culture abandons conviction. When people stop guarding their eyes, ears, and spirit.
Kevin and Juanita must literally fight back the fire that spreads through these open doors.
So must we.
Signs You’re Dealing with a Spiritual Doorway
Constant tension in the home
Recurring nightmares or night terrors
Unexplained fatigue or heaviness
Sudden shifts in mood, fear, or rebellion in children
Cycles of failure, sickness, or oppression
Environments where sin feels “normal” and holiness feels “judgmental”
📖 Ephesians 4:27 (NKJV) — “...nor give place to the devil.”
Place means territory. Space. Access.
Black women, it’s time to take that space back.
How to Close the Doorways
Repentance
Identify the access point. Name it. Renounce it. Ask God to forgive and close the gap.
Prayer and Fasting
Some doors won’t close without spiritual intensity. Go deeper.
Clean House
Remove objects, media, or relationships that are gateways for demonic influence.
Guard the Gate
Create spiritual boundaries. Post scriptures. Anoint rooms. Speak life daily.
Stay in Community
Isolation is a doorway. Iron sharpens iron. Get accountability.
📖 2 Corinthians 10:4 (NKJV) — “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds...”
Melanie, Juanita, and the Women Who Guard
Within S.O.L.A.D., characters like Melanie and Juanita are not just followers—they are fighters. They don’t just receive protection—they activate it. They become keys to closing doorways—through obedience, courage, and spiritual power.
The same is true for the women reading this post today.
You are not a victim of circumstance. You are a vessel of victory.
Your prayers matter. Your intercession counts. Your obedience shifts atmospheres.
You are the gatekeeper. And God is your strength.
📖 Psalm 46:5 (NKJV) — “God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God shall help her, just at the break of dawn.”
Affirmation for Today
“I am a watchwoman. I guard my home, my mind, and my future. No unclean thing will enter where I dwell. The door is closed. The blood still works. And God is my fortress.”
For the Woman Who Feels Spiritually Exhausted
You’re not crazy. You’re not weak. You’re not failing.
You’re in a war that most people pretend doesn’t exist.
But you’re not alone.
📖 Psalm 121:7-8 (NKJV) — “The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in...”
Hold the line, Sis. Heaven has your back.
