Reed's Reads of Wisdom Wednesdays: When Angels Walk Among Us: Divine Guidance, Black Women, and the Power of Intercession

Today, on the second day of International Black Women’s History Month, we honor the unseen, the divine, and the intercessors—the Black women who carry light into dark places, who show up just when we need them most, and who stand as divine answers to silent prayers.

In S.O.L.A.D.™ Book II: Soldiers of Light Against Darkness™, Chapter 13—"Interlude: An Angelic Assist"—serves as a powerful narrative pivot. It’s a moment when divine beings step in—not to erase the human responsibility of the Soldiers of Light Against Darkness™, but to remind them that they are never alone.

That’s the message we center today: Black women have always been angelic assists.

Whether as mothers, mentors, matriarchs, or miracle workers, Black women have shown up in our lives and in history at just the right moment—not just to comfort, but to activate, restore, and prepare the next generation for battle.

Let’s walk through this chapter and honor the angelic nature of Black womanhood—its strength, its purpose, and its divine timing.

Chapter 13 Recap: The Angelic Assist

In Chapter 13, we encounter a celestial interlude. Kevin and Juanita—also known as Angelo™ and Angeline™—are not only fighting demons in the natural, but navigating emotional and spiritual exhaustion.

Enter the angelic hosts.

This chapter marks a divine interruption where an angelic being enters to comfort, counsel, and recharge our heroes. It's not a rescue—it’s a recalibration.

The angelic assist comes to:

  • Remind them who they are.

  • Strengthen them for what’s ahead.

  • Offer clarity amid confusion.

  • Deliver wisdom rooted in heavenly purpose.

This echoes what many of us experience in life—those moments when we feel depleted, disoriented, or discouraged, and then she shows up.

That “she” is often a Black woman.

Black Women as Earthly Angels

In homes, classrooms, boardrooms, hospitals, churches, and communities across the world, Black women have stood in the gap like angels with skin.

They’ve:

  • Prayed when others forgot how to.

  • Spoken life when the room was filled with doubt.

  • Held space when the world refused to make room.

  • Stepped into chaos with calm and clarity.

📖 Psalm 91:11 (NKJV) — “For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways.”

Angels protect, guide, deliver messages, and fight battles unseen.

So do the women we’re honoring this month.

The Divine Role of the Black Woman Intercessor

Just like the angel in Chapter 13, Black women have often played the role of intercessors. These women don’t just pray—they stand in between harm and the next generation.

  • Like Harriet Tubman, whose visions and dreams led her to freedom routes few could understand.

  • Like Sojourner Truth, who used divine conviction to demand change in courts and crowds.

  • Like Fannie Lou Hamer, who called out corruption while calling down heaven.

  • Like the aunties, godmothers, elders, and prayer warriors who wouldn’t let you fall.

These women are not passive. They are heaven’s hands in motion.

When Kevin and Juanita receive their angelic message, they gain not just strength but strategy.

Likewise, Black women often deliver spiritual intel:

  • “Don’t go there today.”

  • “Something’s not right—pray on it.”

  • “God’s going to open that door, but be ready when He does.”

That’s not coincidence. That’s calling.

The Burden of the Angelic Assignment

To walk like an angel on Earth is no easy task. The Black women we celebrate today carry weight.

They are often asked to be:

  • Strong without space for weakness.

  • Wise without access to all the answers.

  • Present for others while grieving silently.

But even in the weight, there is divine reward.

📖 Galatians 6:9 (NKJV) — “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.”

The angel in Chapter 13 never belittles the pain Kevin and Juanita feel. The divine messenger validates it. Encourages them. Then pushes them forward.

That’s what Black women have done for generations. They are healers, holders, and heralds.

Modern Day Angelic Assists: Women Who Walk With Purpose

We can’t talk about angelic assists without naming those modern Black women who move through this world with divine fire:

  • Stacey Abrams, whose quiet diligence has reshaped elections.

  • Bishop Vashti McKenzie, a spiritual general with global influence.

  • Dr. Thema Bryant, a psychologist and minister healing souls with both science and scripture.

  • Viola Davis, whose roles reveal not just talent but testimony.

  • Shirley Chisholm, who declared she was “unbought and unbossed”—and lived it.

Every one of these women—and so many unnamed others—are earthly examples of what the angel in Chapter 13 represents: divine reinforcement.

What to Do When You Receive an Angelic Assist

  1. Listen. The message is usually quiet but clear.

  2. Receive. Don’t let pride block the help God is sending.

  3. Rest. Sometimes the assist comes to give you space to breathe.

  4. Refocus. After the angelic visit, Angelo and Angeline realign with their purpose.

You don’t just get help—you get healed, recalibrated, and repositioned.

Just like Black women have done for generations.

Scriptures for the Journey

📖 Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV) — “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles…”

📖 Hebrews 13:2 (NKJV) — “Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels.”

📖 Proverbs 31:26 (NKJV) — “She opens her mouth with wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness.”

Affirmation for Today

“I am surrounded by divine assistance—seen and unseen. I honor the Black women who have spoken life into me, fought for me, and prepared me for my purpose. I will walk boldly, knowing I am never alone.”

To Every Black Woman Who’s Been an Angelic Assist

You’ve:

  • Prayed when it felt like no one was listening.

  • Loved when your own heart was breaking.

  • Guided others when your path wasn’t yet clear.

  • Carried purpose like a torch in the dark.

Thank you.

You are not invisible. You are not alone. And your reward is coming.

Like the angel in Chapter 13, your presence has made others stronger.

You are the interlude that changed someone’s entire story.
