Favor Fridays with Tony™: The Favor of Seasons

ree

Today on Favor Fridays with Tony™, I want to invite you into a deeper understanding of something that governs not only the world around us, but the spiritual atmosphere we live in: seasons. We often talk about favor in terms of blessings, breakthroughs, and opportunities. And yes, those are all valid demonstrations of favor. But there is a deeper, more sustaining kind of favor that doesn’t always come wrapped in answered prayers or material success.

It’s the Favor of Seasons—the divine timing and purpose of God operating in every chapter of your life, whether you recognize it or not.

🌿 The Wisdom of Seasons

God created the world in a rhythm: day and night, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter (Genesis 8:22). He embedded seasons into creation, not just as meteorological realities, but as spiritual truths.

Each season holds its own purpose. Each one demands a different posture. And each one offers its own expression of favor.

Favor isn’t just the fruit you see in the summer. It’s also the root God is deepening in the winter. It’s the pruning in the fall. The budding in spring. Favor is layered, intentional, and seasonal.

Let’s walk through each season together.

🌻 Fall: The Favor of Letting Go

When we think of fall, we think of beauty—golden leaves, crisp air, and change. But fall is also the season of release. Trees shed their leaves. Farmers finish their harvests. Nature enters into a sacred act of letting go.

Spiritually, fall reminds us that favor doesn’t always look like gain. Sometimes it looks like God telling you to drop what no longer serves your next season. That could be a mindset, a habit, a relationship, a position, or even an old dream.

And here’s the grace: trees don’t fight fall. They surrender. They trust the rhythm of their Creator.

John 15:2 (NIV): "He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful."

Pruning is painful, but it’s favor. Letting go is hard, but it’s holy.

In this season, favor is found in obedience. In trust. In faith that believes that what you lay down will make space for what God is raising up.

Reflection:

  • What is God asking you to release?

  • Are you clinging to something He’s already removed His hand from?

  • What relationships or responsibilities are no longer aligned with your calling?

Fall favor says: "You are not losing. You are clearing ground for new growth."

❄️ Winter: The Favor of Stillness

Winter is the season we dread. It’s cold. It’s quiet. It feels like nothing is happening. But oh, there is so much going on beneath the surface.

Winter teaches us the favor of stillness. Of preparation. Of invisible growth. Roots go deeper. Soil is replenished. Energy is conserved.

And spiritually, winter is often the season where your character is being formed. It’s where you learn to walk by faith, not sight. It’s where you develop spiritual stamina. It’s where intimacy with God becomes real.

Psalm 46:10 (NIV): "Be still, and know that I am God."

Sometimes the favor is that He has slowed you down. Not because you’re being punished, but because you’re being prepared. You’re being refined.

Winter favor looks like this:

  • You’re not being booked like you used to, but God is booking private appointments with you.

  • You’re not seeing the breakthrough yet, but you’re breaking old ways of thinking.

  • You’re not surrounded by crowds, but you’re being rooted in Christ.

Winter teaches us that silence is not absence. It is preparation.

Reflection:

  • What lessons is God teaching you in the quiet?

  • Are you willing to grow in ways that others can’t see?

  • Can you trust God’s process when it feels like pause?

Winter favor whispers: "You are not buried. You are planted."

🌸 Spring: The Favor of Emergence

Spring is the season where life reemerges. Buds bloom. Seeds sprout. Sunshine returns.

It’s the season of answered prayers, open doors, and new beginnings.

But here’s the truth: Spring only comes after winter. Without the pruning and the stillness, there is no fresh growth.

Song of Songs 2:11-12 (NIV): "See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone. Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come."

Spring reminds us that God keeps His promises.

Things start to move again. You feel hope again. You sense joy again. But with that joy comes a challenge: Don’t forget the God of winter now that you’re in spring.

Stay humble. Stay planted. Stay aware.

Spring favor is beautiful, but it’s also fragile. A sprouting plant needs care. A new opportunity needs stewardship. A rebirthed dream needs protection.

Reflection:

  • What has God brought back to life in this season?

  • Are you watering what He has planted?

  • Are you nurturing what you once prayed for?

Spring favor sings: "What was dormant is now divine."

☀️ Summer: The Favor of Stewardship

Summer is the season of acceleration. Things happen fast. You’re harvesting. You’re being promoted. You’re being seen.

But summer also brings heat. More visibility means more responsibility. With new levels come new devotions, not just new devils.

Summer requires spiritual discipline. Many people fall in summer because they mistake momentum for maturity.

Deuteronomy 8:10-14 (NIV): "When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the Lord your God... be careful that you do not forget the Lord your God."

Summer favor demands:

  • Gratitude.

  • Consistency.

  • Humility.

  • Spiritual awareness.

It’s easy to pray when you’re in lack. But will you still seek His face when you’re swimming in blessing?

Summer is not a time to get comfortable. It’s a time to get careful. Guard your heart. Watch your pride. Protect your purpose.

Reflection:

  • Are you managing what God has given you with wisdom?

  • Is your prayer life still strong now that your calendar is full?

  • Are you giving God glory for every opportunity?

Summer favor shouts: "To whom much is given, much is required."

⏰ The Favor of Transition

Between every season is a transition. And transitions can be disorienting.

You’re not where you were. You’re not yet where you're going. You’re in the in-between.

And that space is holy too.

God often speaks loudest in transition. When you’re tender. Open. Raw. Vulnerable.

Isaiah 43:2 (NIV): "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you."

Favor in transition means:

  • He guides your steps.

  • He closes wrong doors.

  • He brings clarity.

  • He holds you through the tension.

Don’t rush transition. Receive the wisdom in it.

Reflection:

  • Are you seeking God’s voice in this in-between space?

  • What are you being prepared for?

  • What do you need to leave behind before entering your next?

Transition favor testifies: "Even this is part of your journey."

🌍 Seasons May Change, But God’s Favor Is Constant

Here’s the most important truth: God’s favor is not seasonal—it is eternal.

Seasons change. Circumstances shift. Doors open and close. But His favor rests on those who belong to Him.

Lamentations 3:22-23 (ESV): "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning."

Whether you’re in spring or winter, fall or summer, you are still favored. Not because of what’s around you, but because of Who is within you.

🙏🏾 A Prayer for Every Season

Father God,

Thank You for the gift of seasons. Thank You that You do not change, even when everything around me does. Teach me to recognize Your favor in every stage of life—not just in the fruit, but in the pruning, the waiting, the preparation, and the transition.

Give me eyes to see what You are doing, even when I don’t understand it. Let my heart remain soft. Let my faith remain anchored. Let my worship remain constant.

I surrender to Your timing. I trust Your process. I embrace Your pace.

Let my life reflect Your glory in every season.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Stay rooted. Stay faithful. And remember—there is favor in every season.
