However, without proper boundaries — a strong, protective fence — weeds, pests, and even well-meaning but misguided intruders can trample your harvest before it has a chance to bloom.

Neglect is not always loud and obvious; it’s often quiet and unintentional. It creeps in when we let distractions, discouragement, or doubt stop us from tending what God has entrusted to us. Left unchecked, neglect allows weeds of bitterness, fear, and regret to overrun our soil. Fields that once teemed with potential become wastelands of missed opportunities.

Throughout history, Black women have carried dreams into spaces where doubt was planted. They have walked on waters of uncertainty, injustice, rejection, and fear—because when God said “Come,” they obeyed. Today, we honor those water walkers—the ones who dared to believe that faith could carry them farther than fear ever could. They didn’t wait for safety. They didn’t wait for applause. They didn’t wait for permission. They stepped out—and God met them on the water.

For far too long, Black women have been fed a dangerous lie. A lie so insidious that it’s often passed down, internalized, and masked in applause: “You are only as valuable as what you can produce, provide, or perform.” But the truth is this: God never required you to earn what He’s already declared.

There is something sacred, something powerful, and something holy about a Black woman who keeps showing up.

Black women have long sown in struggle—but they have reaped in strength.

This isn’t just a post. This is a thank-you letter. This is a sacred reflection. This is a celebration of women...

Today, I want to honor the countless women whose labor is often unseen, unheard, + uncelebrated—yet undeniably powerful and world-changing.

Women have faced adversity, shattered barriers, and turned their greatest challenges into their greatest triumphs.

Women throughout history have planted these seeds in their families, communities, and nations, ensuring that future generations would reap.

The impact of women’s contributions—whether in leadership, education, faith, science, activism, or the arts—cannot be overstated.

History has taught us that what we see, what we hear, and what we believe about ourselves shapes our destiny.

We reflect not only on the triumphs and struggles of those who came before us but also on the responsibility we carry to shape the future.

The journey of Black history is one of sowing seeds in difficult soil, nurturing those seeds with determination and faith, and trusting God.
